Symbols are found on seals, small tablets, ceramic pots and more than a dozen other materials, including a "signboard" that was hung over the gate of the inside of the Indus city of Dholavira, it displayed the names or logos of a business or product.
Historians argue that the Indus system did not encode language, but is instead a non-linguistic sign system used commonly in the Eastern side and other communities.
